Corset Dress
The corset dress is a design I have been working on for a few years. When I come up with a
new design, it usually is drawn up in one
of my sketch books. Due to the demand for my work, I rarely have the time to work on the designs found in these sketchbooks. In April
of 2005, I finally decided to work on one of these designs during the weekend instead of cavorting about town.
The design that I decided to work on that weekend was the corset dress. The corset dress is actually a daily bust supporting tightlacing corset
with a dress built around it. The corset dress functions just like a daily wear, bust supporting corset.
It pulls in the waist, supports the breasts, reshapes the lower ribcage, and creates a flat tummy. Like all my other corsets, it functions
properly, and can be worn daily.
The corset dress shown is the prototype model. It is made with poly-cotton twill interior, fushia bengaline
exterior, patent lambskin stay casings
and underwired bra cups. The shoulder straps are also made with patent lambskin and have chrome plated hardware and padlocks. The corset dress
turned out so well that I took it with me to New York in the spring of 2005 to show off at the
Black and Blue Ball and the
Kraftwerk concert.
I would be happy to design a Corset Dress for those who are interested. The dress can be made short, long, with sleeves, full or tight
over the hips, or in any way the you choose. The price will be determined by the
clients' measurements, tastes and desires. Like many of my more complicated designs, a visit to the studio
for a measurement session will be needed. A consultation can be made at my studio in Kansas City or during my business trips to New York.
